We are pleased to announce that 23 Century Medical Group Sdn Bhd and PT Bio Farma (Persero), Indonesia’s state-owned life science company, have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to explore cooperation on the registration, commercialisation and distribution of stem cell and secretome-based products in Indonesia.
The MoU was signed in Jakarta on 9 October 2026 by Datok Seri Dr. David Mah, Managing Director of 23 Century Medical Group, and Dicky Mahardhika Taryono, Director of Research and Development at Bio Farma. The signing was witnessed by Dr. Angelina Tiah Shy Yng, CEO of 23 Century Medical Group, Shadiq Akasya, President Director of Bio Farma, and Didi Apriadi, Special Staff of the Ministry of Investment and Downstream Industry/Investment Coordinating Board (BKPM).
This collaboration is a first step for both organisations to explore how cell therapy and regenerative medicine innovations can be brought to Indonesia through a pathway that meets regulatory requirements, quality standards and the needs of the national health system. It also gives both parties the opportunity to build a shared understanding of market readiness, regulatory requirements, commercialisation models and the distribution systems needed for these products to be developed responsibly.
Speaking about the partnership, Dr. Angelina Tiah Shy Yng said that medicine is increasingly moving towards therapies that focus not only on managing symptoms, but also on repairing, restoring and improving biological function. “This exploration with Bio Farma opens the opportunity to understand Indonesia’s needs and requirements for stem cell and secretome-based products, as well as memory-like natural killer cells. We hope this cooperation becomes a first step in exploring opportunities to develop local capabilities, with scientific evidence, quality, patient safety and regulatory compliance as our priorities.”
Shadiq Akasya, President Director of Bio Farma, described the collaboration as a strategic step to expand the company’s capabilities in cell therapy and regenerative medicine, in line with its long experience in developing vaccines and conventional pharmaceutical products.
The signing of this MoU marks the exploration stage. Any registration, commercialisation and distribution of products will depend on the outcome of further assessment and on meeting the applicable requirements in Indonesia.
We will continue to share updates on this collaboration as it progresses, and we sincerely appreciate your continued support.
